How can something legal be banned? This is a futile attempt for as long as it’s not encumbered by laws that render it unlawful and, most importantly, for as long as the tobacco industry is one of the highest taxpayers there is.

Total tobacco ban is an ideal endeavor. But in time this can be met when the next generation will not be influenced by today’s smoking population. Although banning smoking totally is a Herculean task, but striving to achieve it is a noble goal.

We need to create a concrete realization that smoking is not good for one’s health and smokers should not be allowed to pop cigarettes in public places. This can be a start-up activity in the total tobacco ban.

Although you are right, but laws are meant to be changed and in this case it could be for the better. I can hear a lot of yuo shouting at me, ”But this is an invasion of Free Speech and the ability to do what you want and Invasion of Privacy!”. You can look at it that way, or you can look at it like your brother saving you from getting into the ”cabinets”.

I know it’s a stretch, but something needs to happen because more and more people are getting addicted to smoking, and chewing every day and I don’t think it’s going to stop by slap on the wrist saying it’s bad for you. There needs to be some action. But the money might get in the way, *Sigh*.

It is difficult to do this without any strong co-operation. India, in general would have to make a few altercations in its governance and judiciary to force a ban on tobacco products. The economy will also suffer considerably. There are many regions which grow only tobacco and changing that would be an Utopian concept.
